In October 2019, it was heavily rumored that J.K. Simmons will be reprising his role as J. Jonah Jameson in Marvel's Morbius. Though it isn't confirmed yet that Simmons will star in the film, Jameson's appearance could also lead to the Marvel Cinematic Universe & Sony's Universe of Marvel Characters to collide.

In 2020 and 2021, Morbius suffered numerous delays from being pushed off of its original July 10, 2020 date to July 31, 2020. Then to March 19, 2021 and transitioning to October 8, 2021 afterwards and ultimately being backed off into January 21, 2022, and then January 28, 2022. Later, on January 3, the film was pushed back once more to April 1, 2022.[2]
