Samuel Marshall "Sam" Raimi (born on October 23rd, 1958) is an American film director, producer, screenwriter, and actor. He is the younger brother of screenwriter Ivan Raimi, and the older brother of actor Ted Raimi. Riami is a noted comic book fan, and prior to directing the Spider-Man films, Raimi lobbied to direct 1995's Batman Forever when Tim Burton was dropped as director, but was rejected in favor of Joel Schumacher, whose reputation, at the time, outshone Raimi's. After the completion of the Spider-Man 3, he planned on producing two more sequels but could not find a satisfactory script and his series was rebooted by director Marc Webb.

  • Raimi's brother Ted has numerous small roles and cameos in his films such as The Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, Army of Darkness, Darkman and Oz: The Great and Powerful.
  • He directed the film Oz: The Great and Powerful which stars another of his collaborators James Franco.
