On December 4, 2021, Sony Pictures revealed a first look at Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, revealing that it would be a two-part film, with a sequel in the works.
On April 20, 2022, the film was pushed from 2023 to March 29, 2024, while its predecessor Across the Spider-Verse was delayed to 2023.
